Alma is a small town situated north
of Québec, near Lac Saint-Jean. The area is favourable
in agriculture and well known for its fourrages
particuliers.
Since starting in spring 2001,
our son Pier-Marc spent endless hours researching the
very best of dairy goat breeders in Canada. We
decided to purchase a couple of the lamancha breed,
which soon became over 150 animals. Our herd is
purebred and of the highest quality available, their
milk is very rich in fat a protein which makes an
excellent quality cheese.
The
Fromagerie Les Petits Bleuets is a family run buisness.
At the sales counter you can discover the flavour of our terroir en
vous proposant les spécialités du fromager.
The cheeses
result from a farm production
containing pasteurized milk produced only by the goats
that live on our farm. We have the ability to control
entirely the quality of our products from the breeding,
to the transformation of the milk, and even sometimes to
the plate of the consumer. The goats are of the
lamancha breed, which givesa consistant and creamy milk,
the taste of the cheeses have an authetic flavour and
each one has its own characteristics.
The goats are nourished with
attention and care because they are very demanding
animals concerning health. Each one receives hay
that is produced on our farm, along with a specially
formulated feed ration to have an excellent dairy
output. All of the goats are recorded at birth and we
test each goats milk monthly for quanity and components.
Once a year the herd is classified by professional, all
these programs help us to produce a high quality product.
Enjoy your visit!
